California Wine Ball
Lemon Lick
Rum Ricky
Wine Cooler
Wounded Buck
The California Wine Ball is a drink born on the Estrada Ranch under the creative juices of Indian Jim Hathway. An alcoholic’s Christmas wish come true, the Wine Ball breaks the ranks of traditional beverages by blending red wine and whiskey into a challenging taste experience. There is a prerequisite to drinking a Wine Ball; you must first have at least one whiskey and soda highball to wet the palate sufficiently in preparation for the Wine Ball. Now you’re ready to enjoy the experience of a lifetime.
3 oz. Whiskey (or Bourbon)
Burgundy Wine (Merlot or Zinfandel may be substituted)
Club Soda
Water
Making a California Wine Ball is unconventional as it’s ingredients. You begin with a normal whiskey and soda highball. Using a 12 oz tumbler, pour in whiskey and fill with equal parts of club soda and spring water. (No ice is used in the original Wine Ball.) Start enjoying the highball. Normally, a Wine Ball is started right before lunch and completed during lunch. Drink the highball down about half way or less, then refill with wine during lunch. Now enjoy the uncanny taste of two distinctive pleasures blended into a single drink. There is truly nothing like it.
