Birthplace: San Luis Obispo, California
Date of Birth: 08/14/48
Don Wright, son of the late Harry and Lucille Wright, husband to Carmen Wright, and the proud father of Donrae and Harry Wright II. Like a character out of a John Steinbeck novel, Don is a common man, with noble ambitions and strong character. He is also the kind of guy who will shoot a 50 pound buck in the ass and call it sport.
Since he was a small child Don has been entertaining himself by creating and performing his own musical compositions. Early musical influences in his life were Leonard Bernstein (West Side Story), and Bob Dylan. Over many years Don has developed into an accomplished song writer, vocalist and guitar player. Don has graciously used his talents to provide entertainment to all who attend Estrada Ranch festivities. We especially enjoy and admire his composition skills. When Donnie and Billy III join together for our entertainment it is a special treat. Every time they perform for us I feel Grandpa Rudy and Dad (Big Bill) smiling down on us.
Donnie is a man of passion. He is passionate about his music, his hunting, and especially his family. He has a special relationship with his son Harry. It is truly a pleasure to watch the two of them as they enjoy each others company. And in spite of all Don's mistakes as a tutor, Harry has turned out to be an exceptional hunter. We know Don is very proud of him.
The term "Suitcase Buck" and the "Suitcase Hunt" can only be attributed to Don. No one knows what motivates Donnie to search out the smallest bucks. He might tell you it is because they are a smaller target and therefore require more skill. But if that is the case, why does he always shoot them in the ass? Could his aim really be that bad? Does he really intend to spoil all that meat? Some say Don does these things to overcome some deep rooted inadequacy that doesn't need to be mentioned here.
Inadequate does not describe Don's culinary skills. His homemade enchiladas are orgasmic. He puts a lot of labor and love into those golden beauties and we believe they are second only to Bill Jr's Opening Weekend Stew.
Don has made many contributions to the Estrada Ranch. His knowledge of construction has been put to use on may occasions. Donnie designed a simple, but effective way to support the deteriorating walls and ceiling in the living room. He has also contributed to the repair and replacement of the patio, roof and kitchen floor, in addition to many other projects.
All of us at the Estrada Ranch love this common man of many passions. Every encounter with Donnie is an adventure that enriches our lives and sometimes gives us gas.
