Kevin Estrada is the Great Grandson to Rudolph Estrada, Grandson to William Estrada I, Son to Glenn and Diane Estrada, and Brother to Kristopher Estrada. Kevin has been hunting on the ranch since he could walk the hills with his father and his brother Kristopher.
As soon as he turned 12 years old Kevin obtained his hunting license and immediately began to show the old timers how to locate and harvest deer. His hunting skills are so instinctive that he is known to fill both tags on the same day. Kevin claims on occasion he has had to shoot deer in self-defense. It usually happens when he volunteers to run an errand for one of the hunters. The Ranch Foreman has subsequently made a ranch rule that Kevin cannot run any errands with a gun in his vehicle.
Kevin has little time to relax at the Estrada Ranch because he is kept busy with two jobs. His paid job is a Wildlife Specialist for the Federal Government assigned to northern Santa Barbara County. In 2000, Kevin's experience as a trapper was called on at the Estrada Ranch. Two bears had broken into the ranch house and trashed the kitchen two days in a row. Kevin obtained the necessary permit to set up his bear trap at the ranch and the bears were never heard from again (what a reputation). Through his job, and with the tutelage of Murray Hathway, Kevin has honed his skills as a skinner. Kevin demonstrated those skills on Harry Wright's first buck. Don Wright insisted on preserving the buck and Kevin volunteered to cape it out for the taxidermist. Kevin's other job is helping his in-laws, the Machados, run their cattle ranch. The Machados have turned him into a top hand. Kevin's father can attest to Kevin's exceptional roping skills.
Kevin and his wife Sarah have two children, Dallys (born in 1995) and Carson (born in 2000). Dallys is already an accomplished rider and Carson thinks he can do anything and everything.
With Kevin around the Estrada Ranch will be in good hands when the old timers are ready to just sit on the porch and tell stories.
